El ojo del Tiburón by Alejo Hoijman from Argentina, E agora? Lembra-me by Joaquim Pinto from Portugal, and Cuates de Australia from Mexico won the first edition of FIDBA Buenos Aires International Documentary Festival.

The nine-day festival, which began on September 14, featured a broad selection of films, four competitions, retrospectives, seminars, master classes, the participation of filmmakers and producers from all over the world and special activities.

The annual event organized by the Fundación de Altos Estudios en Cine Documental opened with the exhibition of The Missing Picture by Rithy Panh, which won the main award in the Certain regarde category at 2013’s Cannes Film Festival.

FIDBA offered excellent shows, not only for film fans but also for the general public. More than 90 films were screened and almost 50 international guests attended the seven venues — San Martín Cultural Centre, Gaumont and Cosmos cinemas, Haroldo Conti Memory Cultural Centre, Kino Palais / Palais de Glace, Language Museum and Vorterix.

Apart from the winners mentions above, Argentine production Mi reino no es de este mundo by Tatiana Font was honored with a Special Award during the closing ceremony which took place at the Language and Book Museum of the National Library.

El día ha conquistado la noche of French director Jean-Gabriel Périot was the best short film, while Puma mi bien amado (Argentina) by Laura Martínez Duque, Nadina Marquisio and Tom Maver received a Special Prize.
