REAS

Lola Arias' second feature film received the 25th Sebastiane Award, an LGTBIAQ+ award at the San Sebastian Festival. The jury's decision is based on "its representation through music of the reality of trans women and men in Argentine prisons who struggle to live a full and happy life in a punitive society." Some of its protagonists were present to receive the award: Yoseli Arias, Carla Canteros, Estefanía Hardcastle and Noelia La Diosa. Reas is a film starring women and trans people who were detained in different Argentine prisons. In the old Caseros prison, now abandoned and in ruins, people who were deprived of their freedom for years reconstruct scenes from their past lives and imagine their future lives in the form of a musical where they themselves sing, dance and act.

Reas is a co-production between Argentina, Germany and Switzerland directed by Lola Arias, produced by Gema Films, premiered at Berlinale Forum 2024.
